28 October 2026 Industry Report | Tokoplas.com

The appraisal industry report is a comprehensive summary of the PP & PE industry, consisting of market information, statistics and in-depth analysis.

Polyethylene (PE) is the most popular plastic in the world. This is the polymer that makes grocery bags, shampoo bottles, children's toys, and even bullet proof vests. For such a versatile material, it has a very simple structure, the simplest of all commercial polymers.

Comments by market players on polyethylene (PE) as follows:

The Indonesian market sees adjustments in the latest local and import polyethylene (PE) offers. Nevertheless, these adjustments have not triggered panic buying, as sales of finished products remain slow. Amid persistently weak demand, some transactions are concluded at discounted prices. Import PE offers from a Thai producer have increased by $20/ton for HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4, while LDPE Film offers remain stable compared to the previous week. Some materials are available for November shipment, but most are scheduled for December shipment. Offers for US HDPE Film via a global trading house have risen by $60/ton from the previous week, with deals concluded at the initial offer level of $1,340/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia main port basis. The trader is quite surprised that the buyer is willing to accept such a significant increase. Meanwhile, a converter has purchased US HDPE Film cargoes at $1,380/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia main port basis, which is $40/ton below the initial offer level. Offers for US LDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4 remain largely stable. Moreover, a Singaporean producer has raised its LDPE Film price for November shipment by $50/ton compared to the previous month.

In the domestic market, the leading Indonesian polyolefins producer has increased its PE price lists by IDR190,000/ton ($10/ton) for HDPE Film and IDR530,000/ton ($29/ton) for LLDPE Film C4 compared to October 22 levels. Similarly, another Indonesian polyolefins producer has raised its PE price lists by IDR900,000/ton ($49/ton) for HDPE Film and IDR700,000/ton ($38/ton) for LLDPE Film C4 compared to the levels seen on October 5.

Demand for PE remains largely subdued. Most buyers are reluctant to accept current offers, which are considered high, while sales of finished products remain sluggish. End buyers are also hesitant to accept the elevated prices of finished goods. Amid weak demand, converters are not rushing to make new resin purchases despite the recent price hikes and are instead adopting a wait-and-see stance. Moreover, most converters still hold sufficient stocks. High raw material costs, coupled with sluggish sales of end products, have also prompted some converters to reduce their production rates.

Polypropylene (PP) , also known as polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications. It is produced via chain-growth polymerization from the monomer propylene. Polypropylene belongs to the group of polyolefins and is partially crystalline and non-polar.

Comments by market players on PP Homo Raffia as follows:

In the week starting October 26, there are several offers for import PP Homo Raffia to Indonesia. Import offers for Vietnam-origin PP Homo Raffia stand at $1,550/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia main port basis, which increased by $50/ton compared to last week. Likewise, November shipment price list from a Singaporean producer also increased as compared to last month, with PP Homo Raffia offers increasing by $50/ton to $1,720/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia main port basis. In the domestic market, PP Homo Raffia prices from two Indonesian producers posted a further increase from last week. The leading Indonesian polyolefins producer increased its prices by IDR750,000-1,100,000/ton ($41-61/ton) compared to last week, while an Indonesian polypropylene (PP) producer’s prices mostly went up by IDR1,000,000/ton ($55/ton).

Demand for polypropylene (PP) in Indonesia remained largely unchanged despite the continued rise in prices, as buyers had become accustomed to elevated price levels. However, end-market demand remained weak, particularly for PP Thinwall, prompting buyers to remain cautious and postpone purchases amid unattractive offers. Polypropylene (PP) supply in Indonesia appeared increasingly tight, with some local materials becoming less available and reports of reduced shipments from Singapore. Looking ahead, Indonesian polypropylene (PP) prices are expected to remain firm amid limited supply, high import offers, and shipment delays. However, weak end-market demand and buyers’ reluctance to purchase at current price levels could limit trading activity.
